The Korean Ministry of Justice has announced a new direction for international-student visa policy, moving from simply “attracting students” to helping them “grow” in Korea. 🎓 Key proposals include: 💼 Longer D-10 Job-Seeking Period Plans to extend the post-graduation D-10 job-seeking period to up to 3 years, depending on qualifications. 🔬 Better Study-to-Work Pathways More pathways are being considered for qualified international students, including STEM graduates, to move into skilled employment. 📝 Part-Time Work The government is considering a more flexible system for eligible students while strengthening measures against misuse of student visas. 🌏 Regional Opportunities The policy aims to connect international students with employment and settlement opportunities outside the Seoul metropolitan area. 🎯 The broader goal is to create a “study → employment → settlement” pathway for international students in Korea. 📅 Published: October 7, 2026 🏛️ Official source: Ministry of Justice (법무부) ⚠️ Important: These are proposed policy-reform measures. They do not mean that all of these changes are already in effect. Students should continue following the current visa rules until separate implementation notices are announced. 🔗 Official source & full announcement: "Ministry of Justice – Foreign Student Visa Policy Reform" (https://reference-url-citation.invalid/1)
